In Portugal, the Tagus river south boundary is limited by “Beira Baixa” and the northern boundary by “Alentejo”. Through the “Ribatejo”, reaches the front of the estuary near “Vila Franca de Xira” and finally flows into the Atlantic Ocean near by “S. Julião da Barra”.
Salty water boundary is also near “Vila Franca de Xira”.
About half an hour from Lisbon, “Vila Franca de Xira” is a busy agricultural and industrial center, a land traditionally linked to horses and bulls. Bathed by the Tagus River, the city has a strong rural character in which predominates the country features and “Ribatejo” plains. “Vila Franca de Xira”, has a unique local tradition: the famous Feast of the Red Waistcoat.
